Supercomputer MareNostrum to create a network for scientists

The MareNostrum, Europe's most powerful computer and fifth in the world, is to create a Spanish network of supercomputing to give support to the scientific community. The initiative will allow MareNostrum and six other specialised computers in Spain to process around 150 trillion calculations per second.

The Barcelona Supercomputing Centre, the entity that manages the MareNostrum computer, is working on projects regarding the climate change and a simulation of the origin of the universe, two projects that are possible thanks to the processing speed provided by MareNostrum.
