Catalan biotech firm Thrombotargets changes the market for the treatment of bleeding

Catalan biotech firm Thrombotargets has developed a breakthrough product to control bleeding both in healthy patients and people affected with illnesses such as hemophilia, reducing dramatically the bleeding in case of a hemorrhage. The new drug, currently known as TT-103MH, has received the designation of "orphan drug" by the US Food and Drug Administration and could hit the market in less than three years time.

Thrombotargets is now to decide which pharmaceutical company will be joining its effort to receive a license to market the drug in the near future. The new medicine offers a potential market of 30 billion euros, which would translate in sales of over 1.5 billion euros for Thrombotargets.

The Catalan biotech firm, presided by Javier Pedreño, is to start looking for new financing in order to build a biotech lab in Madrid and a center of molecular sieving in Girona (Catalonia).
