Telefónica to invest 15 million euros in biomedicine and 22@ districtTelefónica has announced investments of 15 million euros in new biomedicine and technology projects to be completed at the 22@ district, in Barcelona, the company's CEO, César Alierta said.
The telecoms operator is to create a new multilingual center to carry out research in the fields of language recognition and translation, with an investment of 3 million euros. Telefónica will also collaborate with Universitat Pompeu Fabra's Municipal Institute of Medical Reseach to develop six projects of medical tele-assistance and new technologies, with a funding of 6.3 million euros. The Spanish operator is also starting the construction of the Telefónica University campus in La Roca del Vallès.
