Industrial activity recovers its place in Catalonia

In the last few months, Catalan industrial activity, representing 20.14% of Catalan GDP, has registered an important increase, with a growth of 3.6% for the 4th quarter 2006.

David Garrofé, general secretary of business association Cecot says that there has been an increase in new hirings in the industrial sector, which can be perceived in a bigger GDP and the fact that the industrial sector is again one the engines of the Catalan economy. "Up until now, this situation was not so evident because both domestic consumption and construction activity had had an unusual behavior", Garrofé said.

The increase in industrial investments has also favored some players, such as producer goods, a segment that is experiencing great results.
