Lufthansa eyes Barcelona's airport South Terminal

German carrier Lufthansa has expressed interest in moving its activities to the new South Terminal of Barcelona's airport to maintain its growth in the Spanish market, according to Lufthansa's general manager for Spain and Portugal, Stephan Semsch. The company has already increased the number of flights between Barcelona and Germany, Mr. Semsch said. "The possibility of moving to the new terminal would help us create a hub with Spanair and the other members of the Star alliance," the official said.

Lufthansa sees Barcelona as a "good business destination", which explains why the company offers more flights in and out of Barcelona than Madrid. Spain is one the seven strategic markets for the German carrier, Mr. Semsch said.
