Catalonia finished 2007 with a record of 260,000 businesses, according to data from the Catalan Government's Ministry of Innovation, University and Enterprise. It is a "historic achievement and a good sign for the future; it is also the result of a strong business dynamism since the euro was introduced in the country," Minister Josep Huguet stated.

From 2000 to 2007, Catalonia recorded an average annual increase of 6,000 businesses, an increase that "confirms a positive trend experienced throughout the country," Mr. Huguet said. From January to November 2007, Catalonia saw the creation of 23,000 new businesses.
