Catalonia's Ministry of Innovation and Catalan business agency CIDEM have announced the creation of a research institute for energy at the 22@ district in the Catalan capital. The centre will also have a sister facility in Tarragona, where research into biofuels will be conducted.

The new energy center is part of a project to create a cluster at 22@, which will be known as the Barcelona Technological Innovation b-TEC. The cluster is to have an area of 148,300 square meters and construction is scheduled for the coming months.
