The Koplowitz Foundation to finance a new biomedical center in Barcelona

The Esther Koplowitz Foundation is to begin this month the construction of a new center for biomedical research in Barcelona, a project valued at 15 million euros. The new center, known as CIBEK, will specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive and liver diseases, nutrition and obesity, strengthening Barcelona's position as a reference city in the biomedical field. The CIBEK will offer 9,500 square meters, next to the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, and will serve as a base for the Idibaps investigators, a group formed by experts from Hospital Clinic and Spain's Advanced Medical Research Center (CSIC).The facilities will be fully operational by 2010.
