Swiss multinational Nestle to invest 50 million euros in a new plant in Girona

Swiss multinational company Nestle plans to invest 50 million euros in a new plant in Girona to produce coffee capsules, Nestle Spain director Laurent Freixe said. The new facilities are expected to be in operation by next year and will allow the creation of 100 new jobs.

The 10,000-square-meter plant will produce 500 million coffee capsules a year to supply markets in Southern Europe, Japan and Mexico, exporting around 70% of its production. In 2007, Nestle Spain posted revenue of 1.95 billion euros, an increase of 5.4% from a year earlier. The company has sold 120,000 coffee machines in Spain and has achieved about 10% of the market in just a few months, Freixe said.
