Catalan SMEs use more IT applications

Small and medium enterprises in Catalonia show a higher use of IT technologies in their businesses, according to a study by Fundetec. About 56% of Catalan SMEs offer their employees devices for remote connection, well above the Spanish average of 51.6%. Catalan SMEs also tend to rely more on Wi-Fi connections, a technology used by 67.6% of all enterprises. As for computers, a 76.5% of all SMEs indicate that they have at least one PC for business purposes.

Jordi Bosch, Catalonia's Telecommunications Secretary, said he is satisfied that the study confirms that Catalan SMEs are above the European average in terms of availability of new IT technologies. According to Mr. Bosch, the key for SMEs is to find the right tools to remain competitive.
