Planning a business plan

Introduction

All the aforementioned points must be studied in detail, however, the fisrt question you must ask yourself is: When is a business plan needed?

Usually, most of the information related to the operation of results within a business plan is adopted too late in the project. Many projects have been running for years until the directors start looking for commercial, production or marketing intermediaries to exploit research results. The debate with marketing experts during the initial stage of the project is likely to be a help for operation more than a hurdle for research task, and it can also be used to remove false market expectations.

If you are working in a research centre, you can ask external marketing advisors for help to prepare the business plan. If the business plan is really complex, it is rather possible that you must subcontract its writing, but the information for its elaboration it has to be given by all people related to the plan elaboration. If there is nobody in charge of that information, the result will be neither assumed by anybody else or it will be applied without interest. Moreover, investors are interested in their new view of the future task and not in the quality of writing of the advisors.
